The Management Team at Apna Ghar are passionate about the care they provide and are committed to providing a safe, familiar and enjoyable haven for all those they serve in the community and beyond.
Nilofer Englefield
Proprietor
After acknowledging a requirement for residential care services for the Ethnic Minority in the Medway Towns, Nilofer successfully opened Apna Ghar (Our Home) in July of 1997.
Previous to this, she had fifteen years of community care experience working for Kent County Council and used the understanding and experience she had gained as a catalyst to open the first residential home of its kind in Kent.
Nilofer takes great pride in the fact that, since its inception at the end of the last century, Apna Ghar has always achieved a ‘Good’ rating with the Care Quality Commission. These regulated inspections are very thorough and it is incumbent on all care services to maintain the highest of standards in care provision. She has overcome many challenges relating to the intricacies in setting up and providing a suitable haven for individuals from the Ethnic Minority with mental health concerns. This is substantiated by the fact that all of Apna Ghars current service users have been with them for several years signifying a high degree of satisfaction and a general good feeling and spirit amongst the staff and residents.

Haaris Englefield
Manager
Haaris has a background in marketing and was appointed manager of Apna Ghar in October 2019. His transition to the care sector has been seamless and he has concentrated on enhancing procedural practices within the home and, in turn, improving the delivery of care provision.
With a keen eye for detail, he keeps the team on course and ensures our work is up to the Care Quality Commission’s high standards. His background in marketing allows him to be able to recognise development opportunities, make smart service-user focussed decisions, and foster a contented and creative environment in the home.
Always excited to learn new things, Haaris likes to bring solutions to problems in pragmatic and objective ways. It’s important to him to understand all the moving parts of what’s happening, who it affects and how in order to come up with a plan that will result in service-user friendly outcomes.
Alongside the daily management of the home, Haaris has focussed on becoming fully accredited in Health and Care Management to add value to the highly qualified staffing team at Apna Ghar.
